Membership
Church membership is an act of commitment. At JHFC we give meaning and value to membership, believing that God’s Word and Kingdom is advanced through many members showing forth one Body of Christ.
There are numerous benefits to membership; here are some we emphasis:
- It identifies you as a genuine Believer (Eph. 2:19; Rom. 12:5).
- It provides a Spiritual Family to support and encourage you in your walk with Christ (Gal. 6:1-2; Heb. 10:24-25).
- It gives you a place to discover and use your gifts in ministry. (1 Cor. 12:4-27; Rom. 12:3-5; Eph. 4:11-16; 1 Pet. 4:10).
- It places you under the Spiritual protection of Godly Leaders (Heb. 13:17; Acts 20:28-29).
- It gives you the accountability you need to grow (Eph. 5:21; See various “One Another” and “Each Other” scriptures in the Bible).
Requirements for Membership
Paul mentions two types of commitments in 2 Corinthians 8:5 (GNB): “First they gave themselves to the Lord; and then, by God’s will, they gave themselves to us as well.”
Membership at Joint Heirs Fellowship Church begins first with committing yourself to Christ in salvation and then committing yourself to other believers of like precious faith for service in a local church.
Throughout biblical and church history; spiritual covenants have been made between people for mutual edification and accountability. At Joint Heirs, we have prayerfully summarized four requirements for membership and we have listed these expectations in what we call our membership covenant.
- Be Born Again – Jesus said, “You must be Born Again!” Repentance and a personal confession in Christ as Savior and Lord.
- Be Water Baptized – Water Baptism is one of the ordinance of the New Testament Church and is administered by immersion as a public symbol of an “outward sign of the inward work” of one’s faith in Christ Jesus. We encourage every believer to participate in this Holy ordinance.
- Be Informed – Be informed about the Mission of the Church. This is administered through the Membership Orientation Class and is required for all persons interested in uniting with Joint Heirs Fellowship Church. Classes are scheduled twice a year as needed.
- Be Committed – Sign a commitment of your willful desire as a member at Joint Heirs Fellowship Church. A Membership Covenant Certificate is give to each member to serve as a reminder of your beloved covenant connection with Joint Heirs Fellowship Church.
- Be Fellowshipped - An official Church ceremony is extended with a “Right-Hand” of Fellowship by the Pastors and Church Leaders and is followed by an official New Members Dinner.
